I started the second book of the Marcy Max series on Monday August 17, 2020. It continues about a week or two after the first book ends. At the time of this writing, I have named the second book “Marcy Max: The Fellowship.” That may change by the time the book is ready for publishing.
I seem to be obssessed with writing this second book in the series. I’ve already written about 140 pages and I still have several chapters to write. Ideas keep flowing into my head and some scenes have taken an unexpected twist–even to me. I am enjoying writing this book much more than the first one. I suppose, now that I’ve gotten one under my belt and gone through the process, that I am more comfortable and the creative juices, with God’s inspiration, have been flowing abundantly.
The second book will feature Marcy Max along with others who will join “The Fellowship.” Think of the Fellowship as something similar to the Justice League. A group of people that are called by God to do great things are gradually coming together as a team. More people are introduced in this book and some are expanded upon from book 1.
I feel as though God was inspiring me in writing this book. The ideas and scenes were coming so quickly. It was like I was watching a movie and quickly trying to write what I saw down. I even loosened up a bit and am taking advantage of the fact that this is a fiction book. So, things don’t have to be so real. I made up some wild things too.
At first, I called the Book, “Marcy Max: Training Days,” because Marcy would learn a lot in this book. However, as I was writing, the overall theme of the book changed from being focused on training and more on the formation of the fellowship. Some familiar people such as Sammy D, Jimmy, and Mark are significant characters in this book along with Marcy, of course.
It’s funny. While writing this blog post, I realized that I forgot to include a character from the first book into the second one during a significant chapter. I don’t want to give you more information than that. I will of course, fix that.
I’ve already started thinking about a cover for book 2. I have been watching videos about book cover designs to make sure that I do it propery. I hired an illustrator to do the artwork for book 1’s cover. I don’t know if I will go that route this time. It depends on what I want on the color. I may use royalty-free stock photos instead.
Audio Book & Video Shorts
I’ve also been considering creating an audio book for books one and two. I’m not sure yet, but I think that may be something that I want to do. I am also invisioning creating (or have created) a series of Marcy Max shorts. We’ll see how that goes.
Another thing that developed during the writing of book 2 and the end of writing book 1 was the purpose of this series. Book 1 started with a vision I had of Marcy and the fist light encounter. The book evolved from there. While writing the book, I started using it as a carrier signal for biblical messages about Jesus Christ, salvation, healing, etc. The second book is developing much more as a platform to do a couple of things.
- To present biblical messages for Christian living
- To encourage the reader to do great things with God’s help.
I’ll see how it evolves further as the writing progresses. I hope to have the manuscript complete by the end of next September 2020 at the latest.
Stay tuned for more behind the scenes information while I write Marcy Max: The Fellowship (title subject to change).
